Why am I a Photographer ?
What makes me different ?
As a young girl, I remember flipping through photo albums recalling moments in time evoking memories of family, friends, and all the things that matter in life. At some point as a child, I started taking pictures myself. I can’t recall when exactly, but I can vividly remember the first picture I took that mattered; it was of my grandpa. I was taking photos at my First Communion party. I captured a photo of my grandpa walking up the front walkway of my house. This was the last photo of him before he passed away. I see this picture so clearly in my mind.
I continued to capture memories throughout my life. As I got older there were less and less photos of me and my parents - we never did formal photos. The last photo of us is from my high school graduation day. My father has since passed, and I regret not having any photos of us together since then.
I want the moms and dads who are always behind the camera to get in front of it with their family so that they do not regret not having a recent memory memorialized when it matters most. I also want the children in families, as they get older, to be able to look back upon photos and remember their childhood and the memories and feelings.
I continue to document my daughters’ lives as they grow up. They love looking at the photo albums and the photos on the walls, remembering the precious moments with family, friends and loved ones that are no longer with us. The walls of my home are filled with artful images of those I love the most. I get that heart smile moment whenever I look at them.
My definition of a Heart Smile moment is one of joy and love when your heart gets all bubbly looking at images of those who mean the most to you in this world. Those little moments of joy and laughter that fill your soul with happiness.
I’ve loved taking pictures as long as I can remember and I’m inspired by capturing the everyday moments and making them lasting memories. I feel it is my purpose to capture those family memories of others too. A moment in time that they will cherish and pass down from generation to generation.
