What should I expect from My Family Photography Session?

So you are thinking about booking a family photography session, but you don't know what to expect. I would love to work with you and your family. Let me tell you what you can expect if you choose to work with me. Many factors go into curating the perfect session for you.

Free consultation.

We start getting to know you and your family during our free consultation. During the consultation, we will talk about you and your family. I love getting to know all the unique facts about you and your family. I want you to tell me about your children, what makes them special, their favorite colors, activities, and anything else you are willing to share. We will also discuss what type of artwork you are looking to create. We will discuss the perfect session location and clothing options for you and your family. I want you to tell me about your home, your style, any empty spaces on your walls you are looking to fill with precious heirloom art, or the coffee table that needs a new family album on it to share with family and friends. As we get to know one another together, we will curate that memorable experience and plan artwork that you and your family will treasure for a lifetime.

Favorite Location.

As you think about your family and the images that give you that "heart smile" moment; Where are you? Where do you and your family feel most at home? The beach, a park, the playground, or in your home? Many factors go into determining the location of a Family Session. Locations vary depending on the size of the family, the age of the children, and the type of artwork you are looking to create. Larger families would typically require more space than smallerfamilies. You may prefer a session at home or in a studio for smaller children and infants. Maybe a playground for those active children. We can help you pick the perfect setting.

Family Time

A family session is a time for a family to enjoy each other while documenting your family's current season of life. An average family photography session typically lasts about 45 minutes to 1 1/2 hours. It is essential to be on time or early if you want the session to go smoothly. We will continue capturing images of you and your family until we get everything we need to provide you with the artwork you desire. Typically a family session will entail photos of the family, the children alone with each parent, the children, and each child independently. The more children or extended family included, the more shots required, which will extend the time. No matter the length, we will make it an enjoyable, relaxing time for you and your family.

Tailored experience.

We like to tailor your session to you and your family. We will discuss all the things that will go into your session during our consultation, helping determine how much time we would need. We will discuss the family's preferred session location, the number of people, specific images, and the artwork you are looking to create. A freestyle lifestyle session may take a bit longer to catch those unscripted moments than a typical family portrait session. An artful fine art portraiture session would typically be shorter since there these are typically indoors with backdrops.

If a family portrait session sounds like something you would want for you and your family, let's talk. We can curate the perfect session for your family. I would love to work with you and your family to create stunning artwork for your home and family.
